2015 Maggie Valley Motorcycle trip

Day 8

July 2

When I got up this morning around 9am Donna wasn't smiling and I could hear the dripping outside. Rain.

11:30am and still raining. The weather girls are predicting a clearing in about an hour.

The weather broke as predicted so we wiped off the bikes and headed to the Wheels Through Time museum just a few miles down the road.

Sadly, we are riding a missing man formation since Pat & Christy left early. Donna and Christy have been texting. They left at 4:30 this morning and have been riding in rain all day. They are drowned rats.

The parking lot was full so we parked near a storage barn.

The only exposure I've had to the Wheels Through Time museum is on the show American Pickers. Dale Walksler, the owner, restored this car then bought it from the Pickers. John said Dale also has a show on Velocity called "What's in the Barn?".

John chats with Dale. He got us some autographed post cards.

Donna is still feeling droopy from her cold so she sat on the couch while I checked out the upstairs.

After leaving Wheels Through Time we headed off in drizzly rain to the Mountain Museum. The lady that owns it makes corn husk dolls that Debby is interested in buying. The owner's dad has a biker shop a few buildings up that we checked out. Didn't find anything we needed. Donna and I stopped in the convenience store and bought pops and some cold medicine.

When we left John & Debby headed to the T-shirt shop we visited on ice cream night. The rest of us headed back to the house with Mike leading. They peeled off at a store for supplies.

When we got home we hauled the trailers up the hill and hooked them up. Sigh...

Not long after we got home the skies cleared and stayed nice for the rest of the day. Mike grilled chicken on the grill and Debby fixed grilled chicken salad for supper. We spent the rest of the evening lounging, cleaning, and packing. Tomorrow we leave peaceful Maggie Valley.

Pat & Christy fought the rain all day but are now in their hotel in Memphis.

6 miles.
