April 24
![]() Today was the droopy day...the day we have to head home. We planned to leave the rooms at 9:00 am, but we were packed early, so we watched TV until the dreaded time.
![]() We packed the Suburban then partook of the hotel's free breakfast. It was actually pretty good. I had scrambled eggs and sausage gravy. Mmmmmmmmmm. We're gonna take a meandering route home. I-71 to US127 then US42...skirting the Kentucky side of the Ohio River.
We pulled over to get some shots of the 'Miss Doris' pushing barges downstream.
This marker was there. I'd never heard of this before.
![]() The drive was scenic along US42. We crossed the river a couple miles west of Warsaw and we were back in rainy Indiana and on the Ohio River Scenic Byway.
![]() Vevay was pretty quiet as we drove through enroute to Mo's Steakhouse. For a while I've had a taste for pork chops. When I saw them on the menu my choice was made. Nothing like good food to make the trip home a little less sad.
![]() The drive along the Ohio was peaceful with full bellies. I had some serious head bob. There were several places where the flooding has marooned campers and cabins. Some had thought ahead and moved to higher ground.
![]() We had thought about hitting some stores in Madison but due to it being Easter Sunday most places were closed. We did see this nice waterfall as we climbed out of Madison on IN7.
![]() We turned onto IN250 and enjoyed the Indiana countryside under gloomy skies. We would normally take IN250 all the way to Brownstown, but the road was closed west of US31, so we took US31 to Seymour and US50 back. We pulled into my driveway about 2pm and ended another chapter in our travel adventures.
143 miles. Click here for thoughts of the trip. |
