Attn Phelons! The countdown begins!

On this day in 1941 the US Navy launched a new battlewagon. She was the lead ship in her class. The BB-57 USS SOUTH DAKOTA was launched from the shipbuilding yard in Philadelphia. She served a glorious career and was involved in several major naval battles.. She was also the duty station of the youngest person believed to have served in WWII, Calvin Graham, who was 13 years old. To read more about this glorious battleship please visit here.
